The Maldives
For Christmas 2008, we shelled out some big bucks in hopes of breaking our 2 for 2 streak of picking bad live-aboard trips. It worked!
We spent a week on the Manthiri in this small island country off of the South West coast of India. Maldives (wiki)
We did 20 dives in 7 days. We saw more eels than we could count, plenty of turtles, sharks and manta rays, and even some new things we haven't seen before. We spent two dives looking for whale sharks with no luck and one looking for hammerhead sharks again, no luck. The rest of the dives were quite SPECTACULAR and the three with heavy currents were even a bit of an adventure!
The food was wonderful! They even put together an elaborate Christmas Eve dinner for us.
We met a really great couple and their friend from Dallas, TX. We all got along great. The other half of the 12 passengers were all from Mainland Japan.
The city of Male, the capitol of the Maldives was quite interesting.
The Singapore airport was fantastic! On the way back home we had an 18-hour layover there. Aafter we had a 6-hour nap at the airport hotel we spent the whole time shopping, wandering the many gardens, seeing free movies and eating.
